Video: What is your favorite children's movie?
Submitted by I-Luv-Eeyore.I think Cars became my favorite children's movie quite recently when the 3 Muskateers and I made a cross country trek (actually were able to hit parts of Route 66), and Cars was playing non-stop on the DVD. You would think that I would get sick of hearing it in the background, but after the 6th or 7th viewing, it was fun for all of us to say the lines with the characters. Definitely kept all of us entertained!
Ever since Hubs showed me the iPhone, I've wanted it so badly that I salivate like Pavlov's Dog every time I see a photo of it. As I wipe the spittle off my keyboard, I'm checking my bank account to see how much moolah I've already saved up to get this beautiful piece of technology when it's available next month. Are YouTube and MySpace a security risk? According to the U.S. Defense Department if you are in the U.S. military and accessing them from military-run network they are. The Defense Department is now blocking access to YouTube, MySpace, and nearly a dozen other Web sites from computers on its network calling them a "significant operational security challenge."
According to an operational security guidelines (OPSEC) memo issued last week by Gen. B. B. Bell the move is meant to reduce drag on the department's networks and protect information. Sites banned include: Metacafe, IFilm, StupidVideos and FileCabi, BlackPlanet, Hi5, Pandora, MTV, 1.fm, live365, and Photobucket.
I'm not surprised. It's really been astonishing that the military has allowed soldiers to have such freewheeling access, especially uploading video to YouTube. But I am surprised that some of their concerns that appear to extend to the media.
OPSEC Guidelines Targets Bloggers and Media
For more behind the scenes insight into how the military views bloggers and even the media check the Army's operational security guidelines as outlined in the slideshow "OPSEC in the Blogosphere". I ran across this gem earlier this month at Wired's "Danger Room" blog. Noah Shachtman found the Army's new operational security guidelines as a slideshow.
A slide from the OPSEC document ranks "Categories of Threat" and under "traditional domestic threats" is the media right alongside hackers, militia groups, and drug cartels.
Under the heading "Concerns & Issues" the document states: "Providing information which enhances the enemy's targeting process." It adds that posting "sensitive" photos and information may be "therapeutic, they are also a snap-shot in time and the whole world is reading."Show us what wakes you up in the morning.

So I attended the SpouseBUZZlive Event at the San Diego Convention Center this past Saturday with my Army spouse girlfriend. It was filled with some interesting information and some cool prizes (even though I didn't win the doggone freezer, boo-hoo). Billy Blanks that Tai-Bo guy even made an appearance to say "Thanks" to all of us military spouses for holding down the fort at home while our spouses are keeping us safe from all of those "crazies". Nice to be so appreciated.
At the convention there was a seminar on how to create your own blog, so I thought I'd give it a try. Ahem, I have no idea if I'm doing this right, but I thought I'd see if putting my thoughts into words and in print could be a cathartic release. Well, hmmmm.. I think it's kinda working as I type more and more, I feel the words ebb out of me. Now, grammatically speaking, I'm not doing so well.. but emotionally, methinks this could be a good thing!
As I talk to more and more people about their angst concerning our troops in the Middle East, the more and more I get anxious about Hubs' deployment. I know, I know.. I've been through a lot of them already, but still... you can never get used to having your husband gone for that looooong! I'm essentially a single mom for the duration, and while I know that many strong women have raised their children successfully singlehandedly while holding F/T jobs, I neither have the desire nor the inclination to be one of them!
So, a blog is born.. and if it's just to put my own feelings, anxieties, triumphs, concerns, frustrations, jubilations out there to no one in particular, so be it. But if I can help myself out (oh, how selfish of me), then more power to me!!!
